Where to Practice Yoga in Ubud: My Personal Favorites—Studios and Teachers

Ubud is known as one of the yoga capitals of the world—and for good reason. With lush rice fields, a strong spiritual vibe and a thriving wellness community, it’s the perfect place to dive into your practice. Over the past year(s), I’ve had the chance to explore many studios and teachers around town, and in this post, I want to share some of my personal favorites. Whether you’re just visiting or living here longer, I hope this guide helps you find a class that speaks to you.

Yoga Barn

A classic, but still one of my favorites. Yoga Barn is like a small yogic city located in the heart of Ubud. Yes, due to Yoga Barn’s reputation this yoga studio is popular and can get crowded, but the variety as well as the quality of classes and teachers makes it worth it. The space has a unique energy and practicing in the open-air shalas surrounded by trees never gets old. 

Tip: Go early and grab a juice or Hot Ginger Lime Honey tea (my absolute favorite) at the Garden Kafe—you’ll thank me later.

Radiantly Alive Yoga

Located in the heart of Ubud, Radiantly Alive feels like a vibrant community hub for yogis of all levels. The moment you step into the space, you’re greeted with warm smiles, the smell of incense, and a feeling of being both grounded and uplifted.

One of my favorite things about Radiantly Alive is how alive the energy actually feels. Classes often feel like a collective journey, with powerful themes, beautiful transitions and space to really tune in.

Tip: Don’t skip the little café across the road—Moon by Sun—perfect for a post-class coffee or their Smoothie Bowl of Happiness, it’s my absolute favorite smoothie bowl in town.

Alchemy Yoga & Meditation Center​

Tucked away opposite of the iconic Alchemy café in Penestanan, this studio is a sanctuary of peace and presence. Surrounded by bamboo, greenery, and open skies, Alchemy blends simplicity and soul in a way that’s instantly grounding. It’s also one of the most architecturally and aesthetically stunning studios on the island—an all-bamboo open-air shala that feels like it grew straight out of the jungle. Practicing here is as much a visual experience as it is a soulful one.

What I love most about this space is the sense of intimacy. The open-air bamboo shala feels like a safe container—whether you’re diving deep into Yin poses, moving through a power class or flowing to live music. There’s something humbling and real about practicing here, far from the crowds and hype.

Tip: Come early for a coconut or stay after for raw vegan treats (Alligator bar is my favorite!) at the Alchemy Café—it’s one of the best spots to unwind and soak up the Ubud magic.

Intuitive Flow​

Perched on a quiet hill in Penestanan, the shala of Intuitive Flow offers some of the most breathtaking views in Ubud—think jungle canopies, overlooking the Tjampuhan walk and distant volcanoes. The space itself feels sacred and serene, with gentle breezes flowing through the open-air shala and a deep sense of stillness in the air.

What I love about Intuitive Flow is the slower energy it holds. It’s the kind of place where your breath naturally slows down the moment you arrive.

The shala is smaller than most, which makes it ideal if you’re looking for a more intimate, less crowded experience. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to practice with just a few other people in the room. The classes here lean into gentle hatha accompanied by pranayama, making it a perfect spot to reconnect inward. 

Tip: try a morning class to catch the golden light pouring in over the treetops—it’s pure magic. And if you’re up for a smoothie after class, continue the path a bit further until you arrive at Yellow Flower Café. If you fancy a good coffee after class, these coffee places are only short 5min walking distance away: Schauberger Coffee (all vegan), Ubud Coffee Roastery or Bodega
