Ubud has no shortage of stylish cafés and fine dining, but my daily food rhythm looks a little different. I keep circling back to a handful of local spots that never miss—cheap eats that pack big flavor. No gatekeeping here: these are the places I eat at week after week, rotating between them depending on what I crave.
And by cheap eats, I mean a full, satisfying meal for under 60k IDR. From the best nasi campur I’ve found on the island to Thai food that rivals Bangkok, Japanese onigiris and even some Western breakfast deals—these are the spots that make eating in Ubud such a joy: affordable, flavorful and worth supporting.
Warung Makan Bahagia
The Best Nasi Campur (30k)
If I had to crown one nasi campur as the best on this island, it would be here. Their Nasi Campur Special (30k) is unbeatable: always the same sides, always the same chicken dishes and always the same knockout flavors.
Warung Kayana
Nasi Campur, Your Way (~40k)
A choose-your-own-adventure nasi campur. You point at the dishes that look good—meats, veggies, yellow or white rice—and they’ll pile it on. Comes with a little soup on the side. My usual plate lands around 40k.

Warung Gauri
Authentic Setting & Corn Fritters
Indonesian classics done right: nasi goreng, mie goreng and their famous perkedel jagung (corn fritters)—get there early, they sell out fast. What makes this place extra special is the setting: tucked into a traditional Ubud family compound with shrines, homes and a truly authentic vibe.
Beautiful Balinese compound @Warung Gauri
Warung Rona
Hidden Local Favorite
A neighborhood gem, far from tourist crowds. Nasi goreng and mie goreng are always solid, but the star dish is crispy chicken sweet-sour cream—like schnitzel with a Balinese twist (sweet-sour sauce, bell pepper, pineapple).
Wayan’s Warung Ubud
Hidden Gem for Pork Ribs
Huge menu, tiny prices. Everything tastes like it should cost more. If you eat meat, try the pork ribs—90k and worth every rupiah. Juicy, tender and better priced (and tastier!) than ribs at the more touristy joints.
Bali Luwih Ubud
Nasi Goreng That Hits Different
Sometimes you just want a perfect plate of nasi goreng. This place nails it every time—simple, flavorful and deeply satisfying.
Sapa
Vietnamese Flavors on a Budget
My go-to for pho, Bun cha, fresh rolls and a change of pace when I want Vietnamese flavors. Fresh, vibrant and wallet-friendly.
Bird’s Nest
Authentic Thai Food
My weekly fix for Thai cravings. Tom kha, laab, fried pork salad, massaman curry, pad thai, pork basil… honestly, everything on the menu slaps.
Musubi
Japanese Onigiris (<50k)
Japanese comfort food at its best. Onigiris under 50k or the set with three sides + unlimited onigiri if you’re hungry. Always on my weekly rotation.
Kagemusha
Japanese Lunch Sets (68k)
A cozy Japanese spot with great food and also unbeatable lunch deals: rice, your choice of main, sides and miso soup for 68k. Great quality for the price.
Western Breakfast Deals in Ubud
Sometimes a Western-style breakfast hits the spot. These are my go-tos for good-value sets:
- Suka Espresso
- Moon by Sun
- Section 9
- Titik Temu
Final Bite
These are the places that make Ubud feel like home for me. They might not have the décor of Ubud’s trendiest restaurants, but the flavors are unbeatable and the prices mean I can keep coming back again and again. If you’re looking for cheap eats in Ubud—the kind that cost under 60k and taste like a million bucks— this list is where I’d start.
I hope you enjoy these cheap eats as much as I do.
